2021 through Slack

It's that time of the year when we reflect on how 2021 treated us. Here are some highlights.

After fully adopting a work-from-anywhere policy at DotModus, we’ve seen our team grow substantially over the last year, especially beyond our headquarters in Johannesburg. We’ve welcomed new staff in roles across all departments, from far-flung places such as London, Sydney and even Pretoria. With each new hire, the distance between our teams continues to grow. And although instant messaging will never truly replace those “watercooler moments”, coffee breaks and impromptu team lunches, some of the communities we’ve built online have kept us feeling more connected than ever.

To illustrate this, we thought we’d use some of our Slack channels to do a little 2021 Year in Review, so please enjoy some of our highlights from the last 12 months.

Between petrol price hikes, busted traffic lights and warm woollen slippers, it comes as no surprise that most of us will continue to work predominantly from home, even long after all Covid restrictions are lifted. But, as home comforts and bad traffic continue to keep us physically apart, we have no doubt that our online communities will continue to grow and flourish.

We're looking forward to many more exciting messages about newborns, marriages, certifications, dungeons, dragons, cats, dogs, homebrews and questionable cooking in the near future.
