We are excited to announce that DotModus now offers specialist consultancy services. The new division is being spearheaded by Tracy Peach. We decided to have a little chat with her not only about the new service but also a little bit about herself.

Firstly, what is DotModus Consulting Services?

Tracy: The manner in which organisations traditionally resource projects has been shifting in favour of a more agile workforce in which experts and scarce technical skills are on boarded as and when required, allowing rapid up- and down-scaling. The Covid Pandemic has shifted this trend into overdrive.

The DotModus team of specialist engineers has a track-record of unrivalled success in delivering highly complex business transformation technology projects through cloud computing, data analytics and machine learning.

DotModus pairs carefully selected skilled professionals with project resourcing requirements at the right time, as projects necessitate, allowing businesses to focus on achieving a competitive advantage in productivity and service delivery.

What are some of the benefits of project based work for employees and organisations?

Tracy: There are many benefits to accessing the services of consultants for project based work or to augment your team with a scarce skill or SME. Some key benefits are:-

Cost-effectiveness: You only pay for the consultant as and when they are required. You also avoid the associated costs that come with taking on a permanent employee or maintaining a large workforce.

Access to highly specialised skills: It is a reality that the skill-set required for the optimally successful implementation of each project is increasingly specialised. Using DotModus consultants allows you to cherry-pick the right talent on a project-by-project basis.

Quick onboarding: Dotmodus makes possible the quick onboarding of top talent based on specific business needs. DotModus will guide this process to ensure that consultants are adding value from day one.

Flexibility: The ability to scale your workforce up or down as needed by bringing DotModus consultants on board during peak times.

Now a little about you, what’s your background and how did it lead you to where you are today?

Tracy: I have had a diverse career working in various industries. From banking to market data services to software solutions, and most recently management consulting.

The one consistent in my 25+ year working career is that I have always been client facing. And this is my passion - I love solving clients' problems. It is only natural that this love of solving clients problems goes hand in hand with a career in consulting.

What has been the biggest surprise in your career?

Tracy: It's okay to make mistakes. Realising that was a ‘eureka’ moment for me. I think that we all strive to be our best all the time, which is an exceptionally difficult standard to consistently have to maintain. We have to learn to be easier on ourselves - that ultimately makes us more effective and more able to see the forest for the trees.

What advice would you give to other people who are interested in pursuing a similar career path to yours?

Tracy: Always remain tenacious and resilient, all the while focusing on your goals.

What can people in the workplace do today to help build the foundation for successful careers?

Tracy: There are so many things one can do but I firmly believe that you will never have a successful career without the support of those around you. Building a network of individuals who are supportive of you and your career is very important and the best way to achieve this is to be supportive of your colleagues' and their careers.

What are some of the biggest challenges in leading today? How are you thinking about dealing with those challenges?

Tracy: The Covid pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the way we work. This resulted in a number of challenges that almost all organisations were faced with, adapting to the change that was thrust upon us, uncertainty about the future, employee well-being, employee engagement and many more.

For me, the biggest challenge in leading today is maintaining open, honest and transparent communication. There are a number of ways to achieve this:-

  1. Develop an engaging communication strategy.
  2. Have an open door policy.
  3. Make sure that everyone has a seat at the table and that their voices are heard.
